Still Life

One of the most important subjects for me is still life. I follow the objects, but change and exaggerate the objects' shapes when necessary. I choose to look at the set-up, looking over the arrangement or at times, a different angle. Nothing more beautiful as a bouquet of flowers in an interesting vase, or a special object, such as books, vegetables, sea shells, on and on with objects, so long as the artist is excited over the arrangement. I like to use unusual colors for the palette, all in reds, or cool colors, or use a colored light bulb, which gives color to the set-up. Success and acceptance are certainly gratifying, but artistic growth is even more so. The stimulation of learning and finding new ways of expressing yourself will make your work continually fresh and exciting to your viewers as well as to yourself. When I visited Robert Brackman's studio, the first thing I noted was a still life arrangement, prepared to be painted beside his easel.
